STUDYLAND ADVICE FOR A SUCCESSFUL JOB INTERVIEW

Here are some of our tips to help you feel confident during a job interview

In the recruitment process, after sending your application documents (CV and covering letter) for an internship or a job, a recruiter contacts you for an interview. Congratulations, your profile is of interest to the company! To put all the chances on your side, it is important to take time to prepare for your interview. Here are some tips from our Studyland recruitment experts.

GET TO KNOW THE COMPANY YOU ARE APPLYING FOR

KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS AND AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT

Work on yourself. You must be able to talk about yourself easily. To do this, it is necessary to know yourself well. Your profile and personality are important to the recruiter. He will also be sensitive to your extra-professional activities, your qualities and your passions. However, be careful to make your experiences interesting and consistent with the company, sector of activity or position for which you are applying.

Now is the time to list your professional experience and ask yourself the following questions:

"Why did you decide to apply for this particular position?"

Thanks to this work, you will be able to showcase your skills and thus interest the recruiter. In an application, there is nothing wrong with having grey areas in your career. Each experience brings you on a personal or professional level to develop your skills. So don't be afraid to talk to your recruiter if they bring up the subject, you can also talk about your weaknesses and how you intend to improve them to make them a strength.

PREPARE YOUR PITCH AND PRACTICE SPEAKING

You need to know in advance what you are going to tell at the interview with the recruiter. Be careful, do not write a text to be memorised, it is useless. Your speech must remain natural and representative of your personality. Write down the broad lines to have a guideline during your interview. In your pitch, take the time to present yourself well and describe your career path in its entirety. Highlight your assets. Make the link between your experiences and the position you are applying for.

Finally, practise speaking fluently. Tip: if you are alone, record your pitch and listen to it. This will show you where you can improve. It will also help you to gain self-confidence.

STUDYLAND'S LITTLE TIPS

During the interview, keep your CV, notes and job description with you to reassure yourself and not get lost. If it is a telephone interview, avoid background noise as it can distract you and give a bad image of you.
